Twin quakes hit Sultan Kudarat late Monday

Two earthquakes jolted Sultan Kudarat within minutes of each other late Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported. The first and stronger earthquake measured magnitude 4.9 and hit 49 kilometers (km) southwest of the town of Kalamansig at 10:49 p.m., Phivolcs said Tuesday. It was felt at Intensity III in Kalamansig and adjacent town Lebak and was recorded at Instrumental Intensity I in Tupi, South Cotabato. The quake of tectonic origin had a depth of 1 km.
