Tokyo stocks open higher with eyes on earnings, US jobs data

TOKYO, Japan (AFP) Tokyo stocks opened higher on Friday extending rallies in New York, as investors watched corporate earnings reports and awaited key US jobs data. The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was up 0.39 percent or 83.95 points at 21,771.60 while the broader Topix index was up 0.23 percent or 3.17 points at 1,635.76.
