Bong Revilla after plunder acquittal: May hustisya sa ating bansa

MANILA, Philippines – After 4 years and 5 months of detention inside the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City, former senator and actor Ramon Bong Revilla walks free on Friday, December 7. After 4 years and almost 6 months, finally makakalabas na rin ako, at lumalabas na yung katotohanan. Nagpapasalamat ako at merong hustisya pa rin sa ating bansa, Revilla said on the verge of tears as reporters, cameramen, and cops swirled around him. (After 4 years and almost 6 months, I can finally come out, and the truth has come out. I am thankful that there is still justice in the country.) The Sandiganbayan s special first division ruled via majority vote that Revilla is not guilty of earning P224.5 million worth of kickbacks through the pork barrel scam, the accusation that led to his detention since 2014.
Revilla s former staff Richard Cambe and alleged pork barrel queen Janet Lim Napoles were found guilty of plunder and sentenced to reclusion perpetua or imprisonment of at least 20 years. In the short interview, Revilla also thanked his supporters for their continued prayers. The former senator is set to take on an expedition around Cavite to celebrate his victory from the anti-graft court. He will go to the Imus Cathedral, the Angelus Memorial Park, and then go home where a feast awaits just for him. –
